The SIUC Saluki Formula SAE race team took 2nd place in Innovative Design of their brake system at the Formula SAE 2012 competition in Michigan on Friday May 11th. The team won $500 and were the best in the US. The award title is The "Altair Engineering's William R. Adam engineering award". There were only 2 awards in this category given out. The Saluki Formula SAE race team is now internationally recognized. There were 120 teams at the competition from all over the world. The team only had a $15k budget compared to million dollar budgets of other teams. We should all be proud of the students and need to recognize this as a GREAT achievement. SIUC has a great engineering department and is clearly one of the best in the world and has great students, staff and faculty.
